24 Hours In Big Bear, California
It’s my favorite time of year and living in Southern California means I don’t see snow as often as I would like. So, today I am sharing 24 hours in Big Bear. If you want to enjoy snow with a reasonable drive Big Bear is the place. However, it’s definitely a spot you need to know when to go. Big weekends, and first snow weekends are long drives with lots of delays. So, if you can choose to go in an off weekend I highly recommend it.
Sledding
We have a secret spot to go sledding that we absolutely love. It’s a little ways out of town but there is always a ton of space and if it’s too crowded you can always drive a ways and find another great spot to sled.
Eateries
Moonridge Coffee Co. – They have amazing coffee and all of their pastries are made in house except for their bagels.
Dank Donuts – Cool funky donut shop in Moonridge, in close proximity to the parking lot for the resort shuttles. They have vegan and gluten free donuts. The blueberry vegan donut tastes exact like a regular donut. The whole family loved it.
Thelma’s – Get the chicken pot pie because it is to die for. The grilled cheese and tomato soup (pictured above) is from Thelma’s and it was good. But, their chicken pot is like you made it at home.
Get The Burger – Good burgers for a fast grab and go. They have really good fries and vegan options for your patties. It’s a great spot for lunch.
Hotels
Best Western – We loved our stay here and they allow pets which is always a bonus. It’s also right smack in the middle of Snow Summit and Bear Mountain.
AirBNB – Big Bear is a great place to try out an AirBNB and stay in a cute cabin with a cozy fireplace and hot tub.
Glow Tubing
If you only have 24 hours at Big Bear Snow Play, this is one of my favorite things to do at night. They light up the hillside with bright colors and neon lights. It’s so much fun. Be prepared to stand in line and make sure you have some hot hands to stash in your pockets to stay warm. Sometimes, I even throw a pair in my boots. They only offer on the weekends and holidays so be sure to check the schedule.
