Hi Lovelies. You all know I love a good party right? It’s one of my favorite things to do. With Labor Day just around the corner, I thought it would be the perfect time to share a fancy BBQ with the perfect adult beverage and a menu with recipes!!
We hosted this adult only BBQ for a few friends. The menu included Chimichurri steak kabobs, healthy mexican corn, salad and dressed up s’mores with the most amazing wine creation ever. Stackable wine glasses. Yes, I have found my new favorite way to drink wine at outdoor events. These glasses are so easy to take with you. Great wine in a convenient single serve. No corkscrew, and no extra pieces to fumble around with.
Menu
Chimichurri Steak Kabobs
2.5 pounds top sirloin chopped in cubes
1 bag fingerling potatoes cut in half
1 red onion sliced
12 metal skewers
salt and pepper to taste
Chimichurri sauce from Gimme Some Oven, set aside a 1/4 cup of sauce
- Boil potatoes until slightly tender, about 7 minutes. They should still be firm. Let cool.
- Use the 1/4 cup of Chimichurri sauce to marinate the steak (we let it sit in a plastic bag for 1 hour).
- Assemble skewers. We did steak, onion, potato and ended with a piece of steak. Sprinkle with salt, pepper and garlic powder, if desired.
- Cook skewers until desired tenderness of meat. 15-20 minutes for well done.
- Using remaing Chimichurri sauce to coat skewers, then you’re ready to serve.
Healthy Mexican Street Corn
4 corn stalks with the husks on
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. garlic salt and pepper
2 tbsp. finely chopped cilantro
1/4 cup grated cotija cheese
- Roast corn on the grill in the husk for about 20 minutes, shuck corn
- mix butter, garlic salt and pepper
- rub butter blend on corn, sprinkle cheese and cilantro on corn, then serve.
Fancy S’mores
The usual s’mores kit, but swap out the traditional Hershey’s for some fun flavored chocolates. Ghirardelli is a good choice to get the perfect square!
Drink of Choice
Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi Chardonnay & Cabernet Sauvignon
The setup was an easy outdoor citrus inspired table setting. I used things I had around the house already and then purchased these citrus fruit serving dishes and lemon salt and pepper shakers. The bright colors and summer feel of the citrus went perfectly with the menu and beautiful weather.
We also had croquet set up, but everyone was so busy chatting and drinking the yummy wine, we never played. I would say it was a successful gathering of new and old friends.
