Hoboken City Guide

Hi Lovelies.  This week I have been missing city life just a little bit.  I have sat in horrible traffic 3 times in the last few days and it makes me miss the ease of walking everywhere, the mom and pop restaurants, the ridiculously good food.  I mean, Hoboken had good food everywhere you turned. And at just one square mile, Hoboken is always voted as one of the most walkable cities in the country. This week, I decided to start adding travel guides for all the places we have visited and lived.  When we travel, we do so much research on where to eat and what to do, that I feel like we see the and do the best of the best.  So, I am slowly dropping in previous posts with my travel tips.  You can see San Francisco and the Hampton’s now, and I will be adding more in the next week or so.  Today, I am going to focus on our old little hood with a Hoboken city guide.

The perfect hotel for your stay is the W Hoboken.  It’s right on the water front with great views of the NYC, a nice bar and within walking distance to the path to get you into the city.

Zack’s

This hidden gem is on 3rd and Willow.  Zack’s has the best stuffed chicken you will ever eat. Don’t even look at a menu, just order the chicken. Trust me. It’s a great restaurant that we frequented often.  The food is to die for and we always received great service.

La Isla

  I wasn’t joking when I said Hoboken had the best food.  When 3 of the must do’s are restaurants…. You know it’s good.  La Isla was featured on Diner’s, Drive-Ins & Dives.  It was for a dang good reason.  The food is phenomenal.  Get the Papa Rellena and if they have a steak special, get it.  Yes, when we lived in Hoboken I ate meat.  I had to, it was so good.

 Carlo’s Bakery

For anyone who doesn’t know the cake boss, this is the original Carlo’s bakery, that started it all.  Get the cheesecake, a cannoli and a bag of the italian cookies.  Everything here is amazing, but these were by far our favorites.

Liberty Science Center

   Liberty Science Center great place to take the kids. Not in Hoboken city limits, but a short ride away on the light rail.  This museum has tons to do and see.  They typically have new exhibits coming in every couple months too.  Your children can explore animals, cars, and even climb the infinity climber suspended over the first floor of the exhibit. From here, head over Liberty State park.  A great place to spend your fourth of July, with perfect fireworks views all around you.

Pier 13

  The best time to hit up Pier 13 is while the sun is setting and you can watch the sun reflect off of all the buildings.  It’s a great place to grab a drink in the warm evenings of summer.  This is a seasonal activity as it’s only open for a few months of the year.

 Hudson River Walk

Take a walk or run along the Hudson River.  With beautiful views of the NYC skyline, this walk doesn’t disappoint.  There is also a great park that you can stop and let the kids play.  One of the most unique parks with a large wooden structure that takes you to the top of one heck of a slide.  There is a sand and water area, all with a great view of NYC.

I was going to add a pizza restaurant to the list, but it’s so hard to choose one! It’s hard to find bad pizza in Hoboken, but our go-to stops were always Benny Tudino’s or Basile’s. But make sure you have cash! So, if you ever find yourself in Hoboken, New Jersey, be sure to add these local spots to your list of things to do. This little town never disappoints!
