Holiday Party Tips
Hi Lovelies. October is here and I’m sharing all of my tips to hosting the perfect holiday party. We host an annual Halloween Party that is a blast. In our circle each person has a holiday that they host and we love Halloween. These holiday party tips can help you plan and execute the perfect holiday party.
Host An Amazing Party With These Holiday Party Tips
Decorate Like A Pro
First, get inspired because Pinterest is life. You can decorate your house like a pro. I love starting with the Target Dollar Spot, Dollar Tree, and any affordable items you can find. I also try to find things around my house that I can repurpose. These books were covered with printables and the eyeballs are from Dollar Tree, placed in an item from my girls room. The options are endless.
Potluck Style
This is a great way to save money and have a great variety of food. We love hosting potluck style, there is always a ton of food and everyone gets to bring something they love. Then you don’t have to worry that there won’t be something for everyone. There are two options to organize. You can have people share what dishes they are bringing or just have some basics provided and have the guests bring what they like. We always have a cheese platter, and some sort of main dish so that we know people won’t go hungry.
Give A Prize
Get the creative juices flowing for your guests. Give a prize for the most festive holiday inspired dish. We give a $25-$50 gift card to the winner of the best and most creative dish. It’s fun to see what everyone comes up with, and to see the competitive sides come out in your friends. It also saves you money on food!!
Signature Drink
Save money on your alcohol tab, by creating a signature drink. Last year our Halloween party had a blackberry margarita as the signature cocktail and it was a big hit. I like to find a holiday inspired drink and serve it up with cute straws and cups. We always have a kids option like apple juice mummies or sparkling cider.
Kick Ass Cheese Platter
This is always my big focus. I make one heck of a charcuterie board. You can see my take on a vegetarian charcuterie board here. Typically, for our holiday parties I try to add a little meat in case we don’t get a huge turnout on main dishes.
Kids Activities
When hosting a party for families, having activities for the children is so important. Since we live in Southern California the weather typically permits outdoor activities. We always have chalk, bubbles and our favorite is movies in the yard. This gives the parents at least a good hour-two hours of downtime. We pick a current movie that hopefully some kids have not seen. It’s the perfect way to keep their attention.
The Perfect Playlist
The final holiday party tips is all about your playlist. Music can make or break your party. We try to have a festive playlist with top 40 music mixed in. Always staying with your holiday theme and make it fun. Who doesn’t love a good monster mash for Halloween?
Love these ideas, Megan! We’re debating if we want to have another Halloween party this year– it was a lot of work last year, mostly because I did all the food. I think a potluck is the way to go!
Looks like I found an amazing party guru in here. I actually love your ideas most specially the signature drink. All of this are must try.
