Yosemite Family Hike To Vernal Falls
Hi Lovelies. Today, I am sharing our Yosemite Family Hike To Vernal Falls here on TFM. You can check out all of my tips for Yosemite over HERE. For, today though I will be sharing tips specifically for this hike.
This hike is an intermediate to advanced hike, but can be done with younger children. My girls were 7 and 5 when we made the trip and they made it to the top of Vernal Falls. Here are the things I recommend to complete with children.
- Hiking Boots
- Water
- Lunch
- Napkins
- First Aid Kit
- Camera. We film all of our travel content on A GoPro 8.
I definitely recommend investing in hiking boots for this hike. When you get close to the falls the rocks are very wet and very slick. So, having stable hiking shoes is a must. It is about 4 miles round trip to the top of Vernal Falls with a very steep stair climb to get from the bottom to the top of Vernal Falls. It’s beautiful when you get to the top. There is a lake for you to enjoy. You can take a break and eat your lunch with the beautiful scenery.
The top of Vernal Falls is also the only bathroom location along the hike. It also had ran out of toilet paper. So, having napkins with you to use the restroom is smart. We continued past the top of Vernal Falls, and turned around when the hike began to take another steep climb to get from Vernal to Nevada Falls. However, I highly recommend going that little bit further. You will have a beautiful view of Half Dome at the top.
