10 Best Things To Do In Oahu With Kids
Hi Lovelies. I am finally back to blogging and feel like I actually have the time to commit to blogging. I have decided to step away from wardrobe styling to do what I love. I will be teaching yoga, and coming here to share my favorite travel and style content. Today, I am finally sharing our vacation from last summer. 10 Best Things To Do In Oahu With Kids.
Turtle Canyon Snorkeling Adventure
This was by far one of our favorite adventures on the island. They picked us up right in Waikiki and we saw so many turtles and cool fish. You do really need to be mindful of the turtles and watch your feet. A couple kicked the turtles while we were snorkeling. They ask that you stay at least 10 feet away from the turtles to respect their space as they are an endangered species.
Makapu’u lighthouse hike & Makapu’u Tidepools
This lighthouse trail is really easy, and an all paved road. The Makapu’u Tidepools is a a steep cliff off the side of the Makapu’u lighthouse hike. It may not be for everyone so please be careful and use your best judgement on if your children can make the trek down. The rocks can be slippery and unstable. But, we were so happy that we made the trip down. You can swim in the tidepools, but be mindful or the wildlife. Do not walk on the sea urchins or creatures. This is another on the top of our list.
3 Tables Snorkel
This was a local recommendation from a local friend and it did not disappoint. The water can be a little rough, so just be mindful of the rocks. We saw puffer fish, Picasso trigger, and a parrot fish. So many bright colored beautiful tropical fish.
North Shore Food Trucks
The North Shore Food Trucks are a great stop to eat all the different types of yummy food. We enjoyed Surf & Salsa, Poke for the People and Big Wave Shrimp, Malai Thai. All 4 of us were happy with our choices and would definitely go back. There are a ton of different food trucks setup along the route through North Shore. So grab something from a couple different spots.
Surf
I skipped this adventure because I am not a surfer. However, my husband and girls had a blast trying out the surf in Waikiki. There are definitely other spots to surf, but this was right outside of our hotel. According to my husband it’s a beginners paradise, but make sure you listen to the surf rental companies. Stay where the surfers are. If there is a good break and no people it’s because there is a reef or danger below.
Manoa Falls Trail
This is an easy beautiful hike. Check for the water levels because when we went there was very little water. It was still a great hike through a dense tropical landscape. It rained a bit while we were hiking so be prepared to get a little wet.
Halona Blowhole
We hiked down to the blowhole and the girls totally loved it. We had to bribe them to leave. I believe the tide has something to do with this blowhole being active so I would check and try to plan your time around a higher tide if possible.
Pearl Harbor
Another must for traveling Oahu with kids. Visiting Pearl Harbor is so touching and life changing. The oil still seeping from the boats, the names on the wall. It’s a great opportunity to share a little bit of history with your children. Make sure you spend time going through all the museums before you head over to the memorial.
The Byodo-In Temple
We love to mix in educational experiences with fun and the Byodo-In Temple did not disappoint. It was beautiful you were able to ring the bell, feed the fish, light an incense and say a prayer. It was so cool. The girls really loved it.
Kualoa Ranch
A fun adventure in Oahu with kids. There are a ton of different activities you can do at Kualoa Ranch. A movie tour, ATV, Ebikes and so much more. I wish we would have had more time to stay at Kualoa Ranch. We did one tour that only does one side of the ranch. It was a great time but I would have loved to see more.
