Best Spots In Austin For Kids
Austin Texas has really become a spot to visit for birthdays, bachelorette parties and so much more. But, what if you are traveling with kids? Where do you stay and go? Today, we are sharing the Best Spots In Austin For Kids.
Barton Springs
We loved Barton Springs. This also made our Top Places To Visit In Austin list because we loved it so much. Barton Springs is right in the heart of downtown Austin making it easy to get to. The water is chilly, but refreshing during the summer. We saw turtles, golden retrievers (on the dog friendly side of the fence) and the girls enjoyed jumping off the diving board. It was a great spot to get outdoors, enjoy a natural water feature in the warm summer weather.
Barton Springs is located in Zilker’s park. The pool is home to the Barton Springs salamander that is listed on the endangered species list. Unfortunately, we didn’t see one our visit, but maybe you will get lucky. You can see more information about Barton Springs HERE.
Cidercade
The Cidercade is awesome and an absolute must do with children. There are a ton of old school arcade games to choose from. We tried them all and stayed and played for a few hours. $12 lets you play all day. They also serve up hard seltzers and ciders that are house made. They also offer artisan style pizzas, salads and more. A perfect way to entertain the littles for the afternoon.
Longhorn Football Game
This also made our Must Do List In Austin because there is nothing better than college football in Texas. It’s also a great way to get your kids excited to for college. The second we arrived one of our daughters changed her mind on attending UCLA to wanting to attend University of Texas at Austin. If you are there during the football off-season check out another sports game. The school spirit on this campus is outstanding. It’s such a fun experience and the energy of the crowd is like nothing we have ever seen.
Blanton Museum Of Art
The final spot on our list for Best Spots In Austin For Kids is the Blanton Museum Of Art. This museum was a nice break from the heat. They have exhibitions that change throughout the year so, be sure to check their website and see what is available during your visit. We saw a lot of unique art and we loved the Ellsworth Kelly building with the unique glass details. Step inside and be sure to enjoy the bold colors and patterns. Tickets run $8 for youth and $15 for adults so it won’t break the bank when you visit.
