The Perfect Healthy Foods for Camping

Spread the love

Hi Lovelies and Happy August.  For the Fourth of July the family and I went camping in Yosemite.  It was so much fun and you can see all of our Yosemite tips HERE.  We packed our food for our trip and I thought this would be a great opportunity to talk about my favorite healthy foods for camping.  We really try to keep everything organic and non-gmo but sometimes convenience is more important for us.  So, these are some of the items we found to be super helpful while camping.

My Top 6 Healthy Foods for Camping

Travel Snack Packs

Hummus and peanut butter single servings are the best inventions.  Easy travel container that you can just throw in your ice chest or bag.  Single serving nuts, oatmeal, raisins are all great items to take along to help you eat healthy while camping.

Bagged Salad Mixes

I’m not gonna lie we always have these at home.  I found that buying all the stuff to make the different salads just meant I threw away a lot of vegetables.  I just don’t eat enough to not be wasteful and I don’t like eating the same thing every day.  The bagged salads are another great item to put in your ice chest for your trip.

BBQ Essentials

We travel with veggie burgers, and all the condiments in small plastic containers.  We also take bread, small container of jelly and other random condiments one might need to make a complete meal.  I actually worked on a travel channel shoot for camping hacks and there are so many great ways to carry seasonings and sauces with you while camping.

Fresh Fruit

Nothing beats fresh fruit.  I only eat pineapple, watermelon and apples so we tend to have a cold pack of fruit with us.  The girls always have there oranges, and a large variety of berries as well.  If you need some other options the squeeze apple sauces and fruit cups can be another way to add fruit.

Juice

We juice at home, but when traveling we tend to grab packaged juice.  This was a last minute trip so I grabbed Suja at Target.  There are so many options that you can find at your local health food stores.  Just another perfect option to get in your nutrients.

Meal Replacements

Finally,  a protein shake or meal replacement that can easily be mixed with water and fills you up.  The second part is key.  It’s a waste if you are hungry 10 minutes later.  I love Beachbody’s vegan chocolate, Amazing Grass and Vega One.
