The Holiday’s In San Diego

Hi Lovelies.  I thought it would be fun to share my top picks of things to do in San Diego during the holidays.  I love my home town and there are a ton of great things to do during the Christmas season.  I just wish we could have snow….

This little list will keep you busy and fill up your weekends.  Many of these events are free! Who doesn’t love holiday fun for Free?

December Nights Balboa Park

We went to this last year and it was a lot of fun!  I do recommend getting their early.  We arrived late and it was crowded.  It took us forever to park and to ride the bus to the event.  They have free admission to the museums, a ton of food trucks and festive things to see and do. It’s one of the biggest events in San Diego.

One Of The Many Boat Parades

There are boat parades at almost every bay and harbor in San Diego County.  You can usually watch from the shore and it’s totally free!  We hitched a ride on my friends boat last year and had a blast watching the boats all lit up cruising in Mission Bay.

 Parades

The Encinitas and La Jolla Christmas parades are both great options.  Get your family together, grab lunch or dinner and watch the streets fill up with music and lights.  Holiday parades are the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit.

San Diego Botanical Gardens

This is one of my favorite events in San Diego.  They have lights, carriage rides, music, tasty food and hot cocoa.  We had a blast last year.  We will definitely be making it back one night this season.

The Nutcracker

Several dance studios and theaters here in San Diego perform the Nutcracker.  You have to get out to see a performance.  Some of the options include the Civic theater, Escondido Arts Center, and several dance studios.  I’m hoping next year we can add The Nutcracker to our holiday traditions.

Ice Skating at Hotel Del

This will be my first year, going down to Hotel Del to Ice Skate.  So, I will check back and update this once we have gone.  I can’t believe I have lived here my whole life and never did Ice Skating at the Del.  It doesn’t get any better than ice skating on the beach.

Shopping Centers

Some of my favorite shopping centers in San Diego are all decked out and ready for the holidays.  Some even have live music and great food.  One of my favorites is The Headquarters in Downtown San Diego.  They have such great shopping and the most amazing food.  You can get all of your gifts taken care of and fill up with lunch from Flour & Barley, followed up with gelato from Gelato Paradiso.

The holiday's in San Diego is filled with tons of options to keep your family busy.

Be sure to check back in a few weeks because the family and I will be making our way to Flagstaff to the North Pole Experience.  I will be sharing our trip to Santa’s Workshop and the Grand Canyon!  Happy Holidays.

Have you been to Ensenada? What’s your favorite spots? We had a great time on our Ensenada excursion on our Carnival cruise. Including rain, pina coladas, La Bufadora and wine tasting at Santa Tomas winery. If you are in SoCal I recommend making your own way across the border to Ensenada.
