Must Do In Cinque Terre
I can’t believe I am getting back to travel content, but I really miss sharing all of my favorite things about traveling. So, I am going to start 2025 with some content from last year. Our Must Do In Cinque Terre. This was by far one of our favorite stops on our France and Italy extravaganza. It was a short stay and definitely a place we would like to revisit as we only made it to 2 of the 5 towns.
A little background on Cinque Terre. Cinque Terre translates to 5 lands or 5 small villages. These 5 villages are Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. These 5 villages fall on the coastline of the western side of Italy. They are small quaint fishing villages that are a huge attraction in Italy.
We stayed in Manarola which I highly recommend. It is the 4th village and has beautiful views of the town from a short distance. It is a very steep hill in town and I recommend riding the trenitalia into town. We rented an Airbnb that was conveniently located to the train station. It was perfect. Here is our list of Must Do Activities In Cinque Terre. Now, of course we only visited two of the 5 villages so I am sure there is more. This was just our personal experience.
Must Do In Cinque Terre

- Stay in the villages – To really get the whole experience you must stay in the villages. Wake up early and take in the sites without the crowds. This was by far our favorite part of our entire trip. We woke at 7am and walked through the quiet empty town and took all the photos.
- Hike the Sentiero Azzurro or Blue Trail – Unfortunately, at the time of our trip this trail was under construction. So we only made it a short distance before reaching a blocked path. The views are breathtaking and worth the time of hiking between towns.
- Book a Beach Club in Monterosso– This is a summer activity but a must do if you are there and they are open. We enjoyed our day at Stella Marina Beach Bar. You must book early to get the good beds but you can enjoy private beach access, food and drinks at a walk up bar, bathrooms, changing rooms and shade.
- Embrace the local cuisine – Check out the local restaurants and try their local cuisine. Support the coffee shops, grocery stories and other local businesses.
- Swim in Manarola – Our family really enjoyed the Manarola swimming scene. They jumped off the rocks and sat on the rocks. It was a blast. However, we did notice people leaving their trash and not cleaning up after themselves. Please remember you are guest in these towns, take your trash with you.
