San Francisco City Guide
Hi Lovelies. Today, I want to share a little of bit about our travels in San Francisco. We had two great nights in Fisherman’s Wharf. We stayed at the Argonaut Hotel. Which is one of the cutest boutique hotels I have ever stayed in. The whole hotel is Sailor themed with perfectly decorated rooms. Also, it is pet friendly! Upon arrival our girls got to snag a treasure out of the treasure box, which they totally loved. The hotel was in a perfect location, right by Ghirardelli square and just a quick walk to Pier 39. This San Francisco City Guide is all the musts for a family traveling to San Francisco.
Golden Gate Bridge
Duh, right? There are two great spots to see the bridge. The more kid friendly option is Baker beach. It would be a great place for kids to play with easy access from a parking lot. The second view is the Golden Gate Bridge state park. There is a semi hidden parking lot that has a better view then the actual state park lot. It’s off of Lincoln Blvd. near the battery E trail.
Fisherman’s Wharf/Pier 39
Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier 39 were by far my girls favorite spot. They got to see the seals, play in bubbles, run around and just be kids. We grabbed popcorn from a street vendor, visited a lonely crab who was about to be someones dinner at the local eating spots. My favorite part was eating breakfast at Boudin. We were there right before Super Bowl so they had a bunch of special breads with the football teams and NFL logos. It was pretty cool.
Ghirardelli Square
Ghirardelli Square is a must for an after dinner treat. The desserts are a little costly, but so good. We shared one ice cream sunday for the four of us and it was more than enough. Pick up some chocolates for family back home and enjoy the view of the bay.
Ride The Original Cable Car
Right outside of the Ghirardelli Square is the starting point for the original cable car. This was a fun ride that we took downtown to shop at Nordstrom. It was a little loud and it did scare my girls a bit, but overall it was fun. We definitely need jackets on our ride in February, so just pay attention to the weather before you hop on.
China Town
The biggest and most well known China Town is worth the trip. The best part for kids is all of the fun little shops. We picked up parasols, and little coin purses. They have all sorts of fun finds from the lucky cat to house slippers. A fun afternoon adventure and don’t forget to grab chinese food while you are there.
Nordstrom
The second largest Nordstrom in the country. Taking only second to their headquarters in Seattle. I was in heaven. It was so big and reminded me of Saks 5h Ave. in NYC. If you are a shopaholic like me, make your way to this store. You may want to leave your kids with the husband for this one.
The Painted Ladies
Most of us old folks know this as Full House. This was actually a great place to visit with kids because it is across the street from a big grass area and a nice park with great views of the city. We spent our morning before our flight home here. It was gorgeous.
Lombard Street
Something that you just have to see when you are in San Francisco. It was a pretty cool street, I wasn’t totally impressed. We just drove down it, but I could see it being gorgeous in the spring with everything blooming and the sun shining.
Finally, the one thing I wish we would have made time for is Alcatraz. We had planned on going, but I started to feel under the weather, so by the time we went to book tickets, it was sold out. There is always next time I guess.
