Body Shape Series: The Perfect Jeans For Your Body Type
Hi Lovelies. As we say good bye to summer, I thought it would be a perfect time to talk about the perfect jeans for your body type. Today we will talk about all 5 body types and what jeans are the perfect choice for each body type. Since jeans are a staple in most of our stylish mom closets, finding the perfect pair is important. You always want to make sure you have a pair that fits properly and looks good. I do recommend that your jeans be higher price point in your wardrobe. I like to shop Nordstrom Rack for denim. You can find excellent quality, for a reasonable price. A good pair of jeans will usually cost you $80-$100. The good news is, you only need a few pairs and if you are buying quality they will last you quite a while. This only applies to a good ol’ pair of regular jeans. If you are on the hunt for colored denim or trendy pieces, I say buy what you love. I have pieces from Target and Old Navy. Most of my regular jeans are from Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack or Banana Republic. So let’s get to it.
Pear – Simple lines and little to no pocket detail. Avoid skinny jeans that are extremely tight around the calves and ankles. Look for a boot cut, or flared jean with a little stretch. This will give a nice look to your posterior and well still fit well around your waist. Make sure that you try on the jeans and fit for your widest point and tailor the waist if needed.
Column – Your denim choices are endless. You can wear any style or cut that you want. If you want to give the illusion of a more curvaceous bod then add pocket details and fitted jeans. Top it off with details on the shoulders and upper body and you will be all set.
Apple – The key is to pay attention to the rise. You want a mid rise that falls right at, or just below the belly button. Look for a wide waist band with a dark wash or fading around the knee to highlight your slim legs and smooth the waist line. Again, like the pear shape look for jeans with stretch.
Hourglass – Look for a feminine cut denim that follows your silhouette. Any cut will look good on an hourglass. A more full hourglass may tend towards a classic straight or boot cut pair of jeans. A nice added stretch to the jean will also hug the body nicely.
Strawberry – Crisp structured fabrics tend to look better on a strawberry. So if you don’t like the stretch, go for it. You can still pull of a good pair of jeans with a little added spandex to them if you want. Any cut or style will look good on you. If you want to accentuate your posterior find denim with pocket detail.
That’s all folks. I want to end with my favorite brands of jeans that you can shop. I really think that these brands will have something for everyone and are amazingly comfortable and excellent quality. Joe’s Jeans, AG Jeans, Citzens of Humanity, Gap, and Banana Republic. What are your favorite brands for denim?
