I am back from my California vacation. Working out while traveling can always be a bit of challenge. It’s easy when you are staying with family and have all the workout equipment you need but, what about the times you are in hotels or in a new place you don’t know? That’s where this post comes in.
I love to get my workouts in while traveling and this is how I do it no equipment needed.
1. Body Weight Exercises – You can get in an amazing workout with just your body weight. Just a small little list for ya: Push-ups, squats, lunges (a whole lunge workout
here), sit-ups, plank (a whole plank workout
here), dive bombers, burpees, tricep dips, knee pull ins, mountain climbers, bicycles, and the list goes on and on. There are also some great body weight workouts on these sites,
Fitsugar,
Greatist, and
Journey to the Goal.
2. Resistance Bands – They are small and can be easily packed in to your bag. Get up thirty minutes earlier and get in a good sweat. Here are some great resistance band workouts:
Fitsugar,
Greatist, and
Another Greatist.
3. Run or walk – Weather permitting get outside. Take in the sites, the fresh air and get your workout in all at same time.
4. Hotel Gym – This is one I don’t really take advantage of because I am always traveling with the girls and it is just easier for me to workout in the hotel room or grab my BOB and go for a run or walk.
5. Make Better Choices – My final recommendation isn’t actually a workout. It is just an overall healthy way to travel. Pack your own healthy snacks to keep on hand in the hotel and when you are out. When we drive our bags consist of at least one reusable grocery bag filled with all sorts of snacks. Protein bars, protein shake travel packs, oranges, bananas, apples, peanut butter, trail mix, whole grain bread, organic peanut butter, organic natural jam or jelly (obviously this is for my girls but, PB&J’s can always save you in a pinch).
