10 Things You Should Know About Raising Girls

Spread the love

Hi Lovelies.  Happy Wednesday.  I am so excited to share that I was published on Huffington Post yesterday with my article What I Want My Daughters To Know About Social Media.  With that little share, I want to also drop this little nugget on you from Instagram.  I dropped a truth bomb on my Instagram here about the real Megan behind The Fashionista Momma.  So, today’s post is going to be a little more me.   With 10 things I wish someone would have told me about raising girls.

10 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT RAISING GIRLS

  1. You think you change your clothes a lot as a fashion blogger…. Your kids will out do you EVERY single day.  They will also complain about the fit, the colors and the socks line.
  2. They fight A LOT.  I was an only child.  Someone should have really told me this little fact.  I thought I would make it until the teenage years before they started fighting over clothes.  When they hit 14 and 16, please send wine.  LOTS of wine.
  3. They sing and dance ALLLLL day long.  Don’t get me wrong, it’s adorable. But whew, a momma needs peace and quiet sometimes.  A momma needs peace and quiet.
  4. They will enjoy shopping more than you.  It’s so fun.  Until the husband comes along and he gets all crazy on us because we are running all over the place, grabbing dresses and purses.
  5. They will still play with bugs.  I HATE bugs and reptiles.  My oldest asked me for a bearded dragon last week. Not in this lifetime little lady.
  6. They can totally master the “For Reals” face at a very young age.
  7. They are always way ahead of their age.  I feel like my 6 year old is going on 16.
  8. They want to wear ALL of your stuff.  From your heels, to your purse and all of your jewelry.
  9. They hoard.  My youngest hides things, and stashes stuff in bags.  Our Apple TV remote has been missing for months and I’m pretty sure it’s somewhere in the playroom. Maybe one day it will turn up. One can only hope.
  10. Even though you have to prepare yourself for the day that they’ll hate you, they will love you so very much.  When you yell, it breaks their heart, and they will just want you to hold them, love them and spend all of your time with them.

I always envisioned myself as a boy mom.  Until I was blessed with raising girls.  I couldn’t imagine my life any other way.  They are so strong-willed, beautiful and loving.  I can’t wait to watch them grow up.  What are the things you have learned from being a parent?
