5 Things I Love About Being A Millennial Mom

I’m sure at some point in my blogging career, or at least in the last year, I have staked claim to not being a millennial.  Mostly because I don’t feel that I am lazy, or lacking work ethics, or spoiled.  Don’t get me wrong, I definitely live a privileged life.  I’m so grateful for all that has been done for me and given to me.  I have never wanted to own that I am a millennial.  Time has passed and I am coming to realize how lucky am I to be in this group.  Conversations, observations and books that I have read have brought me to this point.  So, today I am sharing 10 things I love about being a millennial mom and why you should love the millennial moms in your life.

5 Things I Love About Being A Millennial Mom

Popular Los Angeles fashion blogger, The Fashionista Momma, shares her top 5 reasons that she loves about being a millennial mom.

Electronics

Let’s get down to it.  We grew up in the era of computers, and the internet.  Most of us have seen cassettes, CD’s, iTunes.  Our computer days started on Oregon Trail and now we carry mini personal computers around with us.  Growing up in the age of AOL and chat rooms we know the dangers of the internet.  We are aware of what can happen on Snapchat and can help save our children from making dangerous choices in this social media driven world.

Not only is this helping us protect our children, but as our families grow, we have every way to document our children’s lives, share our memories with family and look back on these memories within seconds.  It’s a wonderful digital world.

Creativity

I love that being a millennial mom I have such an amazing opportunity to be creative.   With all of the cameras, computers and wonderful handheld devices, we have endless opportunities to share our ideas and to inspire others.  The world is at our fingertips and we can create some pretty amazing things.   Pinterest, Cricuts, and all of the Wilton Supplies make crafting and baking so easy.  We can literally design almost anything we want.

Health

Our generation got lucky.  We knew that cigarettes and the sun were bad for you before it really could do damage.  Our doctors have all sorts of scans, and tests now that can detect illnesses early on.  We have organic food, locally grown, and now it’s so easy to grow your own food.  Healthy living is right in front of us and easily accessible.

The Ability To Have A Voice

One of the most important things I love about being a millennial mom is that so many people fought so hard to allow us the opportunity to have a voice.  We have truly been blessed that our generation really has seen a shift in women having a voice.  Women’s rights and equality have a come a long way.  I know to many they feel we still have a long way to go, but I am so thankful for what we have been given.

Support

Many of us feel alone when we first bring a baby home. I know I did.  Thanks to the internet and social media, we are able to connect with women all over the world with similar circumstances and similar situations.  We can share our story and support one another in communities that make us feel safe.  Making it so that many of us never feel alone again.

Of course there are always ways to see the negatives in each of these situations.  However, for me these things are all reasons I love about being a millennial mom.

Rare opportunity of an empty spot inside @disneyla Rare opportunity of an empty spot inside @disneyland and just wishing we could get a reservation to see the new Toontown
SoCal residents have you ever visited a mission? M SoCal residents have you ever visited a mission? Mission ⛪
Last week we visited our 3rd mission. This is taking it back to @oldmissionsb which we loved. My daughter was obsessed with learning about Karana from “Island of the Blue Dolphin” If your child is in 4th grade take them to check out a few missions. It’s a part of their curriculum and they can learn so much from the way the Spanish operated here in SoCal in the late 1700’s-1800’s. Of course not every detail of this settlement was positive, but it’s a great opportunity to have discussions and educate your children about the indigenous people and the Spanish settlers.
AND don’t forget 4th graders can get the national parks pass with Every Kid Outdoors. Link in stories.
