12 Things Every Mom Should Do This Year

I can’t believe we are saying good bye to March this week.  This year seems to be going even faster than last year, which I didn’t think was possible.  Today’s post is all about how we can take better care of ourselves.  As moms, we spend so much time taking care of everyone else.  Children are always a priority and that’s a little backwards.  So, today I want to talk about 12 things every mom should do this year.  Ladies, that’s one a month.  It’s nothing.  You can totally do this and be a more present mom because of it.

12 things every mom should do this year. The perfect list to keep you healthy and happy.

  1. Facial – Take care of your skin.  Get any sort of facial.  If your budget is tight, there is always DIY. Just be sure it’s not a mask that will get stuck to your face.  Ya know, like those new black masks we all keep seeing stuck to people. LOL.
  2. Massage – Treat yourself to a massage. I suggest Christmas time.  Let’s be real, we all struggle around the holidays, and a massage would be totally awesome.  The amazing part about 1 & 2 is if you can find a local spa that does both and then make it a full day of pampering.  In Carlsbad, we have Ocean Day Spa.
  3. Mani/Pedi – Again, this is another one that you can do yourself, if you are on a budget.  If you can though, once a year, let someone else pamper you.
  4. Get your hair done – I get this done every six weeks. But if it’s not a priority on your list, get it done at least once a year.  Even if you just add a few face framing highlights.
  5. Get outdoors – I’m talking a day outside alone.  Get out and take on an intermediate hike or paddleboard.  Whatever you love. Do it.
  6. Go shopping alone – Seriously, do it.  It’s amazing.
  7. Brunch with friends – A nice brunch with mimosas is a must.
  8. Girls trip – Even if it’s just one night staycation type trip. Get away with the girls.
  9. Girls night – Go out dancing, or to your favorite restaurant with the girls.  Around here, I’m all about Taco Tuesdays. Because after living on the east coast and Taco Tuesday not being a thing, I need tacos in my life. LOL.  One of my favorite places is Hacienda De Vega.  Their food is amazing and the restaurant is pretty cool!!
  10. Weekend getaway with the hubs – Plan a weekend escape with just your husband.  Even if it’s just grandma taking the kids so you can have a night in alone.  Make time for your spouse.
  11. Do yoga – Personally, this should be a part of your life anyway.  If it isn’t, at least once a year, buy yourself a yoga series and get into a studio.  There is nothing like yoga in a studio.
  12. Complete A Race – 5K, 10K or half marathon.  Sign yourself up and let your competitive edge set in.  There is no greater feeling than crossing a finish line after a run!! My favorite women’s race is the Divas Half.  Check it out, it’s so fun.

Love this list. I agree with every single one of them! I have a 8 months old baby and recently began getting facials again. it feels heavenly! My next goal is to start yoga again. I’m not sure if I can run a marathon though, it’s so hard for me. But it would be great to try!

Excellent list, and I really need to work on implementing some of these this year. I just got a manicure last week, and it’s amazing how having someone else do something for you can totally make your day/week/month. I need a massage next!

Love these ideas! As mom sometimes we get so caught up in the go, go, go of everyday life we forget to set aside time for ourselves. A facial is going to the top of my list!

Rare opportunity of an empty spot inside @disneyla Rare opportunity of an empty spot inside @disneyland and just wishing we could get a reservation to see the new Toontown
SoCal residents have you ever visited a mission? M SoCal residents have you ever visited a mission? Mission ⛪
Last week we visited our 3rd mission. This is taking it back to @oldmissionsb which we loved. My daughter was obsessed with learning about Karana from “Island of the Blue Dolphin” If your child is in 4th grade take them to check out a few missions. It’s a part of their curriculum and they can learn so much from the way the Spanish operated here in SoCal in the late 1700’s-1800’s. Of course not every detail of this settlement was positive, but it’s a great opportunity to have discussions and educate your children about the indigenous people and the Spanish settlers.
AND don’t forget 4th graders can get the national parks pass with Every Kid Outdoors. Link in stories.
