Best Cenotes In Cancun
We took our second trip to Cancun for Spring break and it was a blast. We added a few more cenotes to our visited list. We feel like no matter how many trips we take to the Yucatan peninsula we are never going to be able to see them all. In fact we had a few others we had planned on seeing on this trip that we just couldn’t make it to. Of course, we will be making another trip down there at some point and will have more to add to this list. For today, we are going to share the best cenotes in Cancun that we have visited so far.
Aktun-CHen
Aktun-Chen is an entire eco-adventure park with a ton of fun things to do. Be prepared the adventure from the main road is a bit of a trek, but it is worth it. They have a dry cave that you will receive a walking tour through with photos, bats and a cenote that you will walk across a bridge over. Then you can try out the zip-line and spend the rest of your time in the beautifully clear cenote.
Ik’Kil
We loved this cenote. You can jump from a high platform and swim in a rather large and deep hole. This is one of those amazing most photographed cenote. It has all of the large hanging vines from the opening and is a very cool and unique spot. There are some great spots on your way into the cenotes for photo opportunities as well.
Oxman
Oxman has another unique experience. They have a pool that you can enjoy with a bar where you can grab a margarita and small street vendors along the top of the cenotes. Oxman has a rope swing and a platform that you can jump from. This cenote is one that tour buses will stop at so be prepared to have crowds. However, if you are not in hurry or arrive first thing in the morning or right before closing time you can find an opportunity for some quiet time in the cenote.
Hubiku
This was part of one of our group tours that we did. So, we may have had a different experience than what you would have if you went there on your own. We enjoyed a traditional buffet and then got to enjoy the cenote. This cenote was rather empty and very chilly water. So, if you are looking for cold and refreshing this is your spot. They have bathrooms, lockers and changing rooms making it an easy stop on your trip.
This barely scratches the surface of the best cenotes in Cancun. Two that were high on our list to see that we missed were Dos Ojos and Gran Cenotes.
