How To Pack For A Week Trip In A Carry-on

Hi Lovelies!  Most of us are prepping for back to school.  We have been so lucky to take our family trip for the summer and have headed out to Cabo San Lucas.  After my recent trip to Atlanta and hearing so many comments on how I fit all of my stuff into two tiny bags, I thought I should share my packing strategies.  Here is the scoop, I have travelled to NYC in the winter with my carry-on and personal item.  This includes my laptop and camera.  Crazy, I know. So, today I am going share how to pack for a week in a carry-on.

HOW TO PACK FOR A WEEK TRIP: 5 USEFUL TIPS

Choose Your Bags Wisely

It all starts with your bag choices.  I travel with a hard case carry-on suitcase.  It maxes out the size and sometimes when I fly JetBlue, they yell at me to zip down the expander. LOL.  My second bag depending on how long my stay is, will either be an oversized purse or a weekender bag that will fit under the seat.  This gives me more room for shoes, purses, clothes and my laptop and camera.  Finely, if you are traveling in the winter, wear one jacket and hold the second.  Then you aren’t taking up space in your bag and it just looks like you get really cold.

Only Pack What You Will Wear

This is a big one.  My friends (I love them by the way), but they had hangers in their bags… Hangers. I promise you can make the supply of hangers work for you.  You don’t need to waste the space.  The second piece to this is, plan your outfits.  Try to create a cohesive theme so that your accessories can cross between outfits.

Stuff And Roll

I literally fill every inch of my suitcase.  Shoes are filled with clothing items, purses that have room are filled.  There is typically no air inside my bag.  I put socks, camisoles, and workout clothes inside of shoes and purses.  Take up every inch.  fold your clothes so they fill the gaps in-between the bars of the back of your suitcase.  I mean it when I say there should be no air.  Your suitcase should need you to sit on it to close it. LOL.

Consolidate Bathroom Products

Make sure everything you need comes in travel size.  I fill my own shampoo, conditioner and face products.  Shampoo and conditioner are in bottles and my face wash and lotion are put into a contact lens case.  I have my favorite travel size everything, even perfume.

Mix And Match Accessories

Like I mentioned above have some what of theme so that all of your accessories can work with every outfit.  For example when I traveled to Atlanta, my palette was nude and black.  I did wear a blush and red top, but it still went well with my nude accessories.  I think this is the most important part.  You just can’t do a carry-on with 5-7 pairs of shoes.

Have you been to Ensenada? What’s your favorite spots? We had a great time on our Ensenada excursion on our Carnival cruise. Including rain, pina coladas, La Bufadora and wine tasting at Santa Tomas winery. If you are in SoCal I recommend making your own way across the border to Ensenada.
