Guide to Boston

Spread the love

We took another family trip to Boston and made it to all of the really cool tourist stuff. ย I love Boston to visit. ย To live, I don’t think I could do it. ย The hubs travels regularly for work and I have heard some horror stories during winter. ย Snow banks that are taller than me. ย No thank you. ย New York and DC winters are cold enough for me, ย I don’t think I would survive a Boston winter. ย But it truly is a great city to visit. ย There is so much history and so many stories just in the buildings alone. ย I could spend days there, learning and nerding out on history. ย Here is my guide to Boston.

Freedom Trail

ย The must see guide to Boston. - The Fashionista Momma ย  ย This was by far my favorite part of Boston. ย Following the Red Line through all of the historical landmarks. ย It includes some of the other items I am listing here. ย This walk takes you through Boston Common, Paul Revere’s house, the Old State House and many more. ย I feel like we went through rather quickly. ย I would love to go back when the girls are older and see more that Boston has to offer.

ย Quincy Market

Quincy Market is just steps off of the Freedom Trail. ย It’s a great area by Faneuil Hall where you can grab lunch, see performances and people watch. ย There are other great indoor Market places in Boston, but I just loved the way this building looked and it’s close proximity to the Freedom Trail.

ย USS Constitution

The USS Constitution is the oldest ship in the U.S. Navy Fleet and it’s on the Freedom Trail. ย We did the museum and the ship tour all by itself. ย I think that splitting up the Freedom Trail over a couple days is a must. ย It’s so much to see. ย This is one of the farthest point on the trail. ย So, we drove over. ย If you have young kids, Battle of Bunker Hill and the USS Constitution are a bit of trek. ย Depending on when you are going by, there are few bathrooms on the way. ย I say this because we literally had a huge problem trying to find a bathroom for my youngest when we made the trip across the bridge to see these last two sites. ย Both of the public bathrooms were closed. ย  It was still daylight, so I’m not sure what the policy is, but a good tip is to go to the bathroom before you cross over.

ย Salem MA

A short drive from Boston is Salem, Massachusetts, known for the Salem Witch Trials. ย It’s a cute little town that is very walkable. ย We got breakfast and explored a little. ย We didn’t visit the main Salem Witch Museum, but we did see a few of the smaller ones. ย This may not be for everyone, but we liked getting out of the city and seeing a smaller town in Massachusetts. Be prepared for more witch themed stores and souvenirs than you could ever imagine.

Eateries

The Paramount – A great little breakfast place. ย They have lots of choices, like pancakes and chorizo burritos. ย Anything you get will be good. ย Go early because it will be busy.

Boston Burger Company – Mac & Cheese Burger. ย That’s all I have to say.

Pedro’s Tacos – This is a SoCal restaurant that has a location close to Boston Common. Who would’ve thought? ย It’s one of my favorite fast food joints with good Mexican food. ย They ship their tortillas from California, the manager is from California. All because the owners’ daughter goes to school out there (or so we were told). It’s one little piece of home for me.

Abe & Louie’s – The husband ate here and loved it. He recommends the porterhouse and was impressed by the scotch selection.

ย If you’ve been to Boston what are your must see or places to eat at? ย I always love seeing what other people like to adventure to.
