How I Calm Anxiety Naturally

Hi Lovelies. I took a nice long holiday break off. I wish I could say that I was enjoying my holiday time with my family, but it was not fun. Our house got hit with a viral plague that was insane. It started with vomit, then it went to the vicious cough sore throat flu and went through our entire house and just ended today. Needless to say my anxiety is through the roof. So, today I thought I would share How I Calm My Anxiety Naturally.

** Before I start this in no way should be used as medical advice, I am not a medical professional. If you suffer from anxiety and high blood pressure you should seek medical attention and discuss your options with your doctor.

Workout

This is a big one. I need an intense workout several times a week. This includes a run, or weight training workout. If I don’t the anxiety is significantly worse. If I take a few weeks off I can feel the panic attacks and anxiety set in.

Yoga

This has to be my own practice. Even though I teach yoga and I love sharing my passion with the world I need to practice for myself. Making time to practice is so important. Not only for my health, but also for my ability as a yoga instructor. In order to be a good teacher you need to maintain your practice.

Meditation

This is a small one for me. It’s not my favorite and I only do it twice a week before I teach my yoga classes. I cannot mediate in my own home. There are too many distractions and things I want to fix and stuff to clean I would go crazy. So, I practice this at my yoga studio.

Limit Alcohol Consumption

I love wine. If you follow me on Instagram you know wine is a regular part of my diet. However, I cannot have more than 2-3 glasses. Even one more over that and I can wake up with horrible anxiety.

Naturopath

Visiting a naturopath was one of the best things I ever did. She made some nutrition recommendations and my anxiety and high blood pressure changed really quick. Within two weeks of following her recommendations I was back within normal blood pressure range and not one panic attack in sight. The naturopath I went to has since moved so unfortunately, I don’t have a recommendation in San Diego.

Cupping

This has been huge for me. A good friend of mine is a cupping and massage genius. I started out with once a week sessions and have since switched over to every other week. But, I really believe that cupping has made a difference in my high blood pressure and anxiety. A perfect example is, during the holidays I took a month off. Towards the end I started to feel a little anxious and was having trouble sleeping. My blood pressure increased slightly, but now that I am getting back to my routine everything has started to fall back into place.

Acupuncture

Another way that I calm anxiety naturally is acupuncture. I love acupuncture. But, I need nap after every session. The second those needles come out, it’s like all the tension and anxiety floods out of my body leaving me exhausted and almost drooling on myself. I go to a community acupuncture facility it Oceanside called Ocean Acupuncture and Massage.

So sorry to hear that you experienced such a bad time dear! Your tips are perfect! For me workout and yoga helps a lot. I’ve never tried acupuncture or cupping but I’ll definitely keep these options in mind to try out soon.

    lots of love, Miri

Have you been to Ensenada? What’s your favorite spots? We had a great time on our Ensenada excursion on our Carnival cruise. Including rain, pina coladas, La Bufadora and wine tasting at Santa Tomas winery. If you are in SoCal I recommend making your own way across the border to Ensenada.
