International Women’s Day

Many of you may not know this, but tomorrow, March 8th, is International Women’s Day.  A day to celebrate the achievements of women around the world.  In an effort to bring awareness to this special day, I have teamed up with Cabi to share a little of my story and what they are doing to help women around the world start their own successful businesses.

I started my blog when my first baby was born.  That was almost 5 years ago.  I had no idea what I was doing.  Struggling, I did a lot of research and went back to school.  I completed two different certifications from Fashion Institute of Technology.  Then last year, I realized I was ready to turn this into a business.  I went through the formal processes, completed my trademark, and got everything together to run a functional legal business by MYSELF.

It’s crazy to look back on everything I have accomplished in the last two years.  I couldn’t have done that without the support of family and friends.  My husband was my biggest supporter. Staying up with me until the middle of night to finish assignments or to change a design on my blog.  He funded my entire education, all of promotional items, everything.  I couldn’t have done this without him.  I was truly blessed.

Now, what about the people who aren’t so lucky?  What about the women in third world countries who aren’t given the same privileges that I am?  That’s where Cabi comes in.  They have started the heart of Cabi.  W.e. are Cabi donates clothes to people affected by natural disasters, but most importantly they help women in developing countries get out of poverty by empowering them and helping them start their own businesses through education and financial support.  With each stylist that joins Cabi, they fund a loan for a woman somewhere in the world to start her own business.  How awesome is that?

Today, we need to stand together as women and be proud of the marks we are making on the world.  We all have put blood, sweat, tears and time into starting our own businesses.  We should be proud of all that we have accomplished.  Congratulations to all my fellow women entrepreneurs.  Cheers to International Women’s Day.

In honor of IWD I am sharing an outfit featuring the Siena blouse which is the heart of cabi item. A portion of the sales of this blouse help to fund the foundation.

Since I grew up in Europe half of my life I know about March 8th being women’s day because they celebrate it a lot there. Cabi does a great job of helping poor women. That peasant blouse is beautiful and both the Serenity and Rose Quartz colors are perfect for Spring and this year.

Also, huge congrats on all your blog achievements. That is so cool that you turned it into a business, Megan!

Hope all is well. Happy Monday!

Also, I would love for you to join my latest new linkup (below):

Thank you so much Valerie! I would definitely recommend Cabi as a business. Their clothes can totally sell themselves. They are so well made and I love that everything is interchangeable. xo~ Megan

What a spectacular journey! And here’s to our fellow women! I didn’t know about this holiday but I’m sure it will be trending on social media. Seriously, it’s amazing what women are capable of. This blogging stuff- I don’t know many men that could juggle it all with style!

This is a VERY stunning look Megan and what an awesome mission Cabi provides. It is neat reading other women’s stories and successes such as yours and to think each woman is different and some struggle more than others to make it which can sometimes get overlooked in todays society. Cabi has some lovely clothes and I like what you were sent and are styling.

Altruism is always sexy, and reading the stories of others who have been down that same road is something which never fails to strike a chord. Thank you, Megan, for sharing what you went through. It’s so comforting to know that, no matter how it feels as though we are, we’re never ever quite alone xo

Rare opportunity of an empty spot inside @disneyla Rare opportunity of an empty spot inside @disneyland and just wishing we could get a reservation to see the new Toontown
SoCal residents have you ever visited a mission? M SoCal residents have you ever visited a mission? Mission ⛪
Last week we visited our 3rd mission. This is taking it back to @oldmissionsb which we loved. My daughter was obsessed with learning about Karana from “Island of the Blue Dolphin” If your child is in 4th grade take them to check out a few missions. It’s a part of their curriculum and they can learn so much from the way the Spanish operated here in SoCal in the late 1700’s-1800’s. Of course not every detail of this settlement was positive, but it’s a great opportunity to have discussions and educate your children about the indigenous people and the Spanish settlers.
AND don’t forget 4th graders can get the national parks pass with Every Kid Outdoors. Link in stories.
