Style Saturday: Gingham Dress

Hey y’all!! I am so excited to be guest posting for Megan and hosting the Saturday Style Link-Up today!!

So, just a little about me…I am a 20-something life and style blogger over at Something Gold, Something Blue. I also work full-time as a technology consultant and my style often reflects my conservative work environment. For the weekends, I love to show my sassy side and often describe my casual style as preppy with country flair. I post weekly on Something Gold, Something Blue and love to share some of my passions but mainly focus on what I’m wearing. At SGSB, it is always important to follow your dreams and feel beautiful while doing it!

I immediately fell in love with this dress when I saw it on eShakti. I mean, I am obsessed with everything blue and love all of the gingham prints available right now. It definitely didn’t hurt that the waistband was absolutely adorable and perfect for accentuating all the right places. And who doesn’t love pockets?!? For brunch with some girlfriends a few weekends ago, I added a white camisole to make sure that everything stayed covered up, but would definitely wear it for a night out without the camisole!

And because I am not the biggest fan of heels – I mean, I love how they look, but my feet hurt after about 15 minutes – so I normally stick to flats, especially on the weekend. These flats are by Tieks and have quickly become my new favorite brand of flats!! Tieks are made with Italian leather and the foam cushion on the bottom (in the signature blue) makes them extremely soft and I feel like I am walking on air. Another reason that I love them is that they have a flexible sole, which allows them to be folded up and placed in my bag for easy (and comfortable) shoes on the go! I will be the first one to admit that they are on the pricier side, but I am a firm believer in determining the price per wear of each item (aka. taking the cost of the item and divide it by the number of times you anticipate wearing that item) and they are reasonable to me for the amount of times I wear them! To finish my look, I wanted to keep my accessories simple, so I added my Kendra Scott earrings, a nice gold bracelet and my simple wicker clutch from J.Crew.

This dress has everything I love in a dress – beautiful print, a belt and pockets. You look great Megan and I love your shoes.

Thanks Carrie!! I love the turquoise bottoms, as well! The other day, I paired a turquoise cardigan with my Tieks and I was surprised by how many people noticed the matching colors! They are really a fun touch!

Rare opportunity of an empty spot inside @disneyla Rare opportunity of an empty spot inside @disneyland and just wishing we could get a reservation to see the new Toontown
SoCal residents have you ever visited a mission? M SoCal residents have you ever visited a mission? Mission ⛪
Last week we visited our 3rd mission. This is taking it back to @oldmissionsb which we loved. My daughter was obsessed with learning about Karana from “Island of the Blue Dolphin” If your child is in 4th grade take them to check out a few missions. It’s a part of their curriculum and they can learn so much from the way the Spanish operated here in SoCal in the late 1700’s-1800’s. Of course not every detail of this settlement was positive, but it’s a great opportunity to have discussions and educate your children about the indigenous people and the Spanish settlers.
AND don’t forget 4th graders can get the national parks pass with Every Kid Outdoors. Link in stories.
