Top Tips To Be Race Day Ready
Today is the day before my first half marathon. Â I’m excited and nervous all at the same time. Â I have done other races 5K, 10K, and a 15K. Â I feel semi-ready for tomorrow. Â I just wish I would have fit in a few more runs in the past three weeks. Â As for the pre-day race I have a routine that I like to follow to prepare myself for the big day.
Top Tips To Be Race Day Ready
Relax – For the most part try to take it easy for the day. Â Don’t overload yourself with chores, lots of standing or walking. Â Just take it easy and enjoy the day.
Short Run – I do like to do two miles the day before my race. Â That is the ONLY thing I do. Â This may not be for everyone. Â Listen to your body and if you need a full day of rest, take it.
Pick up your packet – Head to the event location and pick up all your race day information. Â If you have any questions about the event, make sure to ask them all at pick up. Â So, you are well prepared.
Look over the course map – Get familiar with your race. Â You don’t need to memorize it but, it’s just good to be prepared.
Get everything together for your race – You typically have to be up before the sun for your race. Â This means you should have all of your race day items ready to go.
Make a motivating playlist – I can’t run without music!!! Â This is a must for me.
Eat Healthy – Eat your fruits, veggies, carbs and protein. Â Do NOT try any new foods or supplements. Â You don’t want to be sick the night of your race.
Drink lots of water – You want to make sure you are well hydrated for your race. Â Taking in water the day before is a great way to help you prepare.
Get a good night sleep – Try to get to bed a decent time. Â You will be up early and it will be a long day.
Now get out there and have a great race. Â You will rock it!
Look at you! Great share Megan 🙂
