Fashion Week Spring 2016

Spread the love

Hi Lovelies,  Fashion Week is coming to an end.  It was a crazy couple days and I enjoyed my time spent at 15 shows and seeing all the lovely designs.  So, as this years Fashion Week Spring 2016 finishes up, I love to share my favorite pieces and trends from all of the shows.

This time around, I am giving you some tips and some pieces you can shop to achieve the popular looks from all the shows.  You can take these looks straight from the runway to your stylish mom wardrobe.

1

These two colors were splattered and mixed in a variety of shows from Altuzarra, Marissa Webb and Prabal Gurung.  A bright and fun color palette for spring, but these colors may not be for everyone.  If you feel like yellow and orange aren’t for you, it’s ok.  Try adding an accessory in the color of your choice.  A pair of shoes or a purse.  For example, I’m not a yellow person, but I would love a pair of yellow shoes or a yellow purse for Spring.  Another great tip is to pay attention to the undertone.  A true yellow will look better on someone with a blue or pink undertone in their skin.  A mustard would look better on someone with olive skin.  If you are unsure hold the clothing to your face.  Does your face brighten and your eyes pop?  Or do you feel like you have a grey cast on your face with dull eyes?  If it brightens, the color is right for you.

Fun Spring prints are staple on the runways during Spring fashion week.  I am in love with this white floral print from Marissa Webb, this bright cheerful print from DVF and this gorgeous navy and lavender print from Wes Gordon.  Not to mention, these wide leg trousers are too die for.  Keep it simple, with a printed blouse, or mix and match your prints like this DVF dress.  Choose a print that is filled with colors that are flattering for your skin tone.  This is especially important if it is a top.  Like I mentioned above, you want a print that doesn’t take attention away from your face.  It should brighten your features.  Check out the many other shows that had fun bright prints like Desigual and Custo Barcelona.  They both had stunning designs perfect for Spring and Summer.

Leather and suede was the in thing for this Fall, but it looks like it is sticking around for Spring.  From these amazing leather pants on the Nicholas K runway, to this suede dress at Rebecca Minkoff, and this leather skirt at Rachel Zoe.  I like the classic colors of brown and black, but for spring, you could go for something a little lighter.  Pair it with lace or any delicate piece to lighten the mood of your outfit.

Gladiators, Fringe and strappy sandals filled the shows this season.  From Rebecca Minkoff, Rachel Zoe,  Marissa Webb, Desigual, Custo Barcelona and Gabriela Cadena.  You can really pair these shoes with anything.  Find a pair that are comfortable and that you love and wear them to your hearts content.  Gladiator sandals and fringe really can go with almost anything.  I mean I probably wouldn’t wear them to the office, but style them with maxi dresses, midi-skirts, or shorts.  The options are endless.

There was also a ton of black and white on the runway.  If you saw Michael Kors, Marissa Webb, DKNY, and Proenza Schouler, you probably saw the black and white trend take up a portion of their shows.  We all know the classic black and white look and probably wear it at least a couple times a month.  I know I do.  I hope you all got to catch up with your favorite designers shows as we say goodbye to Summer and hello to Fall.
