Tips For The Perfect Staycation

Hi Lovelies.  Spring Break is coming up quickly.  I don’t know about you, but we are planning a little staycation here in San Diego.  We will be heading to Seattle for a quick trip with the hubs, but plan on taking in the beautiful spring weather and getting in some of our favorite spots.  So, today I thought I would discuss the perfect tips for a staycation.

Shut It Off

Turn your phone off, take a break from emails and social media.  Start by taking the time to disconnect and really enjoy your time at home.  Everything will be there when you get back.  I promise.

Quit Housework

I’m talking chores.  Your laundry can wait, and you don’t need to clean for a few days.  Just let yourself have fun.  I say a few days because let’s be real, none of us could leave our house alone for a whole week.  LOL.  I think I would have a nervous breakdown.

Go For Different

Look for places that you normally wouldn’t visit.  We frequent Disneyland and the Zoo, so for Spring Break I want to try a museum in Balboa Park.   Pick some place new.  Learn something.  Take in a new little piece of your city.  If you are on a budget head to a new park, get outdoors and enjoy the weather.

Go For A View

Find a place that has an amazing view of your city.  Take a picnic and take in the view of home.  This gives you the opportunity to see your city from a whole new perspective.  We have so many great view points around San Diego, that I can’t way to share with my kids.

Enjoy New Food

Try a new restaurant.  Maybe even a whole new type of food.  For example, I have never had Pho.  I know crazy right?  So, I’m thinking our Spring Break Staycation will bring Pho into my life.  Maybe I will love it, maybe I won’t.

I can’t way for our Spring Break.  Be sure to follow along on Instagram for our trip to Seattle and our little staycation here in San Diego.  Let’s be real though, we will probably head to Disneyland during our spring break and I will probably clean.  I just love Disneyland and I can’t handle messes. LOL.

Rare opportunity of an empty spot inside @disneyla Rare opportunity of an empty spot inside @disneyland and just wishing we could get a reservation to see the new Toontown
SoCal residents have you ever visited a mission? M SoCal residents have you ever visited a mission? Mission ⛪
Last week we visited our 3rd mission. This is taking it back to @oldmissionsb which we loved. My daughter was obsessed with learning about Karana from “Island of the Blue Dolphin” If your child is in 4th grade take them to check out a few missions. It’s a part of their curriculum and they can learn so much from the way the Spanish operated here in SoCal in the late 1700’s-1800’s. Of course not every detail of this settlement was positive, but it’s a great opportunity to have discussions and educate your children about the indigenous people and the Spanish settlers.
AND don’t forget 4th graders can get the national parks pass with Every Kid Outdoors. Link in stories.
