Top 3 Things Every Girl Needs To Invest In
Hello Fashionista Momma readers! Since Megan is on vacation I get to take over her blog today and guest post. First and foremost it’s nice to meet y’all. Secondly, I know that a lot of guest posts are introductions to bloggers so I decided to not only introduce myself but also, deliver some content so you get a feel for what I like to blog about.
My name is Monica and I blog over at Jersey Girl, Texan Heart. I’m a blogger of all sorts, fashion, beauty, baking, lifestyle, etc. You actually may have seen me cohost a link up with Megan. So for today instead of telling you about myself when you can just read my blog if you’d like I wanted to give you the top 3 things every girl needs to invest in! On my blog I’m always talking about how I will definitely spend more money on shoes, a handbag, or quality clothing. I don’t necessarily look at the designer, but the quality of the piece. Trust me, times are tough and I’ve even seen some designers slipping on their quality so don’t judge a book by it’s cover, that no name brand might have better craftsmanship than your favorite brand name.
Shoes
I have a lot of shoes, as cliché as that sounds. Don’t get me wrong I have a few pairs that I bought spur of the moment, and those are usually the ones that don’t get too much wear out of them. Sometimes the more expensive shoes aren’t necessarily the better quality ones either. For example, I scored these awesome Nine West lace up boots probably about 5 years ago (I still wear them today) for a great price because there was a sale and I had coupons, and then there’s a pair of shoes that I paid double and they didn’t last me more than a season. However, at the same time if there is a pair of shoes that you love but the price is a little more than your budget, ask yourself this, would you rather buy that pair that you love or “save” some money and have to actually waste it by buying 3 pairs that don’t last you until the following year? Also, surprisingly a lot of my shoes that I’ve had for a while are from Marshalls. I find a really awesome pair every once in a while.
Handbags
My purse is my lifeline. EVERYTHING I could possibly ever need will be found in my purse. I even have electrical tape (long story short I needed it to fix my phone charger). I’m not going to lie almost all of my bags are either designer or the quality definitely speaks for itself in the price. I have a few clutches that are no name brands but let’s be honest, how often am I wearing a clutch? Almost never, unless I have an event or I know I don’t need my Mary Poppins bag as everyone calls it. I have anything from Burberry, to Louis Vuitton, to Gucci. I’ve had my Louis for about 4 years now I believe and it still holds everything I need it to. I have probably spent more money on a purse than anything else in my closet. In my opinion though, it was definitely worth every penny, not because it’s designer but because they’ve lasted me for quite a few years with a lot more to go!
Quality over Quantity (Clothing)
Quality clothing doesn’t necessarily mean the price tag will be insane. Last year I did a review for a brand called eShakti and I must say for the price the quality and construction of the dress was phenomenal. I truly believe that you don’t really need too many clothes (I prefer accessories) because you can wear the same shirt a bunch of different ways. I’ve seen so many magazines and blog posts that show how to style a few pieces for an entire month. You can easily take a white tshirt and dress it up or down with the right accessories. That’s why I’d rather chose quality over quantity.
So, with all of that being said, start looking at the quality of certain things. One thing I won’t invest in is anything that is super trendy that I know won’t make it past this season. Why would I pay that much money if I can just get the less expensive version and buy myself another pair of shoes?
I hope you come over to my blog over at Jersey Girl, Texan Heart! Thank you Megan for allowing me to pop into your cyber space for the day!
Hi Monica. I totally agree with this blog post. I too, have loads of shoes and handbags. My boyfriend can’t understand why I need so many… hehe 🙂 Keep up the good work 🙂 Sasi
